Mort tries fruit April 15th

Mort is trying out some fruits and vegetables which are ok for a pet turtle to eat. He went "bananas" over three slices of fresh banana the first day.
On the second day, he decided bananas were no longer interesting. He took just one bite.
The next fruit Mort tried, and loved, was peaches. Yum!! The third day he tried pears. By the way, bananas float, and pears and peaches sink.

Then I went out for a walk to see what nature I could share with you.
Lying under a tree on the road, there was a nest from the past smooshed flat where something had run over it. Just a nest and some feathers.
In my neighbor's back yard there was a dead tree that some animals - maybe birds like woodpeckers - had made holes in for nesting.
In my back yard, some bloodroot was starting to bloom.
Daffodils had finally opened up near my jostaberry bush.
Mayapples haven't quite opened up yet!
The marsh marigolds are open in my pond, and other pond plants are starting to come up.
 Some purple native violets
The false solomon's seal has just started to put up stalks
White native violets are open, too.
The rhubarb is growing quickly. We'll be able to eat some in a few weeks.
Then, THIS morning, there was a different world outside, because there was WHITENESS amongst the plants.

The solar panels were covered with graupel, which the weather people in Syracuse love to talk about. Graupel is supercooled water droplets freezing on falling snowflakes. It is the German word for sleet.
My front yard view.
Birds at the feeders - yellow goldfinches and a mourning dove. Every once in a while, a snowflake comes down.
