Over the weekend there were signs of spring in my back and front yards, too.
A robin said hello from up in a tree.
Buds on a currant bush.
An animal's winter trail gouged into the grass. It turns out to be a vole's tunnel under the snow pack. They make these highways to eat the grass and build nests.
Preschool children know this is deer scat, and that rabbits' are smaller, rounder pellets.
Garlic starting to sprout in the vegetable beds. Each clove will grow a full head of garlic.
Red rhubarb shoots just starting to come up.
Crocuses
A new bush - jostaberry - is a cross between a gooseberry and a black currant. I have planted more perennial fruits including raspberries; black, white, and red currants; pawpaws; pink strawberries; raspberries; and blueberries.
Best of all, our frog is back in our small pond!
(Update: seen on land, it turned out to be a toad. Toads mate and lay their eggs in water, so this one is searching for another toad.)
